Chocolate Cherry Almond Smoothie Bowl

Chocolate for breakfast? And it still checks the box of healthy eating? YES! Not only that, but you can make this healthy breakfast in no time, even if you've hit the snooze button a few too many times this morning.

A balanced breakfast is a good way to support healthy eating habits, but smoothies can be a good start if you are not eating breakfast at all. While you shouldn't rely on them for consistent meal replacements, they can be a great plan B. They can also be a way to practice the principle of "just a bit better" if you purchase smoothies from a shop. Making it yourself puts the control in your hands for using quality ingredients and is a great way to save some cash.

If you can manage it, I would recommend a smoothie bowl. Bowls tend to feel more filling than drinking your smoothie. For more on the science, see this.

*A word on bee pollen. Do NOT use this if you have pollen or bee sting allergies, as it may cause an allergic reaction; do NOT use if you are pregnant or lactating, as evidence is currently lacking on safety for the baby; do NOT use if you take blood thinners as it may interact with medication. If none of those issues apply to you, you may want to try it, as it does have demonstrated positive properties. Specifically, it has a great nutritional profile, antioxidant properties (protects your body against harmful molecules), may improve cholesterol (animal studies), may support liver function (animal studies), and has anti-inflammatory properties (animal studies), among other things.
