Holiday Gift Ideas

Updated: Nov 30, 2019

Looking for budget friendly and healthy holiday gift ideas? Look no further! These are perfect for busy friends who are trying to improve their nutrition, fitness, and overall health. And if you've been so busy that you haven't had time to make a wish list of your own, this will get you started. Go on, make your list! (Just to be clear, I have no affiliation with any of the companies here. These are all things that I have personally used and recommend.)

Nutrition

Chef'n FreshForce Citrus Juicer

This is the sturdiest handheld juicer I've ever used. While it's sized for lemons, I've used it for the tiniest clementines, and have used it for oranges by cutting them in quarters. You can find it online and in some retail stores.

Microplane Zester Grater

Citrus zest adds a whole new level of flavor to your meals. Grates hard cheeses for adding big flavor in a small package. You can find it online and in some retail stores.

Penzey's Gift Card

This spice company is legendary and has been an awesome source of flavor since it's catalog days (yes, before the internet existed). Fantastic customer service and wonderful products!

Cook Smarts provides you with a meal plan for the week with many features, including a grocery list and nutritional info. Their plans are scalable to match up with your household size and are designed to minimize waste by using ingredients for more than one meal.

Plans run from $6-8 per month and they offer a gift subscription.

One year of meal plans for $72

Six months of meal plans for $42

Three months of meal plans for $21

Fitness

Super Band

A fantastic portable resistance tool that comes in different widths to offer different levels of resistance. For best selection of resistance, look for this online.

SuperSliders Multi-Surface 2-in-1 Furniture Carpet Sliders with Hardwood Socks

These guys can smoke your core like nobody's business! I particularly like this option because it can be used on hard surfaces or on carpeting. They don't require a lot of space to use or store. Oh, and they're pretty brilliant at moving furniture, too. They can be found online and in some hardware stores.

Jump Rope

Another small but mighty fitness tool. Great for home or travel, this cardio tool is an effective way to get your heart rate up.

It can be found online and in sporting good stores.

Rest & Recovery

Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker

This book will open your eyes to all of the very good reasons to strive for decent sleep, and gives you some ideas on how to get better rest. It could be just the motivation you or someone you love needs to improve their sleep habits.

It can be found in bookstores and online.

Meditation App Stop Breathe & Think

This is a great app for those who want to escape the madness but find meditation challenging. It lets you choose your guided meditation based on how you feel and how much time you have (or are able to sit still.) Gift subscriptions can be found here: https://premium.stopbreathethink.com/plans/give.

Tune Up Fitness Therapy Balls and The Roll Model: A Step-by-Step Guide to Erase Pain, Improve Mobility, and Live Better in Your Body by Jill Miller

If you've used a foam roller, you are familiar with the concept of a self-myofascial release tool. This book in conjunction with the therapy balls can became a personal massage tool. Great for recovery and relieving tension.

They can be found online.
